The region continues to change as major natural gas export lines are completed and new significant pipe lines from new and old supply sources start construction or in the planning phase. With the Maghreb-Europe gas line completed Algeria has turned its attention to other far-reaching developments, including the BP and Sontrach Alrar to Hassi R'Mel line, which is nearing completion. And other countries such as Egypt, Libya and Sudan have long-term plans formulated for exporting natural resources to stimulate the economy as well as for internal requirements.
