Recently, Zhou et al. reported photoemission data from underdoped (La_(2-x)Sr_x)CuO_4 revealing "fine structure" in the single-particle self-energy Σ(ω). Four fine structures were identified in the real part of Σ(ω) between 40 and 80 meV, and attributed to coupling of electrons to four phonon modes. The maximum entropy method was used to fit the measured ReΣ(ω) and to extract the bosonic coupling function α~2F. Here, we argue that the features in ReΣ(ω) interpreted as the fine structure could not be detected with the experimental parameters used in [1]. The experimental ReΣ(ω) displays more structure than physically possible and the fine structure should therefore be interpreted as statistical noise or some other experimental error.
