Critical-point symmetries in intermediately deformed odd-A nuclei

A scheme that elucidates the nature of critical-point symmetries in intermediately deformed odd-A nuclei bynlinking them to critical-point symmetries of neighboring even-even nuclei is introduced. Specifically, a symmetryncalled DX(3) is proposed, which shows primary characteristics in the decoupling limit for odd-A systems. Somenexperimental indications about the symmetry in some intermediately deformed odd-A nuclei are discussed.
