摘要

This paper presents a comparative study of persistent spectral hole burning in the Sm~(2+) ~7F_0-~5D_0 transition and spectrally nonselective photoionisation of Sm~(2+) in borate-related glasses under UV excitation. The photoionisation kinetics shows that a broad distribution of ionisation rates is involved and confirms that Sm~(3+) ions are not the main electron traps. Correlations between ionisation efficiencies and thermal and temporal stabilities of traps involved in different mechanisms are discussed.
