BT to offer enterprise FMC service, linking it to its 21st Century Network

UK operator BT has announced plans for a new corporate fixed-mobile-converged service for use in the UK and internationally. The FMC technology, which BT has dubbed Enterprise FMC, will have a Wi-Fi interface with the fixed network in key locations, such as the office, home and BT Openzone hot spots. BT has awarded the contract to Alcatel and aims to build the platform in the next few months. Live pilot implementations with corporate customers are expected to begin early in 2007.
