Review of OSV Conference 2005 - International Conference on Technology & Operation of Offshore Support Vessels

The Joint Branch of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (Singapore), together with Centre for Offshore Research & Engineering, National University of Singapore had organized the inaugural conference 'International Conference on Technology & Operation of Offshore Support Vessels on 20-21 September 2005. The objective of the conference was to provide a platform for designers, builders, OSV/DSV owners, operators, drilling contractors, installation contractors to present and discuss future needs and challenges, as the search for hydrocarbons moves into deeper waters. The Guest of Honour BG Tay Lim Heng, Chief Executive MPA, said, "the surge in oil prices have added fuel to offshore oil and gas exploration activities which cannot be conducted without OSVs". He further said that the use of alternative fuel such as LNG would gain momentum and it was timely that this conference provided a plat- form for various stakeholders to present and discuss future challenges.
