Australian Shale Gas -Breezes Blowing but not a Gale Yet

Shale gas has proven to be a game changer in the US, but will it have the same effect down under? Australian shale gas resources are likely to be very large and well located, but do sufficient domestic opportunities exist? There are significant corporate maneuvering and appraisal drilling is occurring; however, whether Australian shale gas has the ingredients for success or be relegated to remain behind the many other conventional and CBM gas prospects is still uncertain. The outcome for shale gas in Australia is not yet rosy, but a vigorous program of appraisal in 2012-13 may change this situation.
