Providing power to a network card, like many design tasks, seems a lot simpler than it really is. One tends to think of power sources in dc terms, dc in and dc out. How complicated can that be? Simple in concept but not that simple when long-term success is a requirement. The ability to design a successful network power system requires an understanding of the distribution of power and thermal management.
