Once we look beyond the significant personal and commercial tragedy resulting from the tunnel ceiling collapse in July 2006 at the Central Artery/ Tunnel, or Big Dig, in Boston, Mass., much can be learned by all types of engineers, not just those in the concrete and more specialized precast concrete and anchorage fields.rnThe thorough report issued by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) strongly indicates that the failure had little to do with the product merits of adhesive anchors as a class of structural solution and even less to do with prequalification or acceptance criteria.
