PCI decodes stimulus package

PCI has formed a task group to investigate ways that the recently passed economic stimulus package will benefit members and allow them to take advantage of opportunities that the package creates.rn"The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that was passed and signed recently offers more opportunity than just roads and bridges," says Bill Ray, chairman of the task group. This is extra spending beyond what has already been identified and appropriated in the federal budget. Extra infrastructure spending totals $143 billion, only 18% of which is designated for roads and bridges.rnIn some cases, federal and state agencies have identified specific projects for this spending. In other cases, program requirements have been identified and many precast concrete projects may qualify.
