Hi-tech and green themes drive flooring

Speeding up refits and using lighter, greener and more technologically advanced materials are the main focuses when it comes to flooring and decking for passenger ships. Netherlands-headquartered Bolidt's recent clutch of contracts for cruise ships includes decking for Viking River Cruises, Tui Cruises' new Mein Schiff 3 and Mein Schiff 4 vessels, and the recently launched Norwegian Getaway owned by Norwegian Cruise Line. The installation of Bolideck Select Soft systems on the new Norwegian Cruise Line vessel, in particular, is a major feature of the company's work on the ship. Bolidt has installed 17,000m~2 of decking, spanning both indoor and outdoor areas. Bolideck Future Teak and the Bolideck 525 flexible decking system were both used. These two types of decking will also feature on Norwegian Escape, which is due to be delivered in October 2015.
