Standardising and consolidating the brand is one of the main reasons for the recent raft of Carnival Cruise lines refurbishment projects. Carnival Cruise Lines hotel refurbishment manager Stephen Fryers said: "We are continuing to roll out this programme, which started a few years back, onto older vessels. Once a new ship comes out, which will have new and different venues, there will be an assessment to see if these can be incorporated into the older vessels." Carnival is not the only cruise line that follows this kind of process. "This is a trend that is general in the industry. New ships are rolled out and some of their venues are extremely popular. Operators replicate these across the fleet to give uniformity and allow passengers to enjoy the same values when they move from one ship to another. All of the cruise lines have older ships. It is not possible to constantly have brand new ships. This means that revitalisation is essential, to keep these older ships going, and to keep them fresh looking."
