Miniflute Offers New Market Applications

In the last few years, I've seen increased popularity in the use of miniflutes. While all box manufacturers are accustomed to C, B, and C/B doublewall, these have their limitations. Graphics application and visual attractiveness are sometimes compromised with these traditional flute profiles. Availability is one reason for the increase in usage of miniflutes. Not that long ago, it was not easy to get, with sheet feeders requiring 30,000-square-foot minimums. Price was a big constraint as well. These days, however, mini-mums are dropping and, while the price is still a bit higher than we might like, growing competition among suppliers is pushing it down. I'm pleased to see these changes because, under the right circumstances, mini-flutes offer some real advantages.
