Expanding market for forest products and a growing source of chemical pulp

The Latin American region currently has a pulp production capacity of about 16 million t/a, producing about 14 million tons of different pulp grades in 2004 (12 million tons of chemical pulp). The region's paper and board capacity is about 20 million tons, with a total production of about 17 million tons last year.
