Facilitating Change with the Press Section

This paper presents the new press section solution and it will discuss the development of the press sections from the ist generation to the new 3rd generation modular design, describing howthe press section design and the felt change are improved through the years.rnBy this new innovative way of engineering a totally new construction of press sections is created, which can be applied to rebuilds and new lines of paper and board machines. New innovations have been implemented to facilitate the construction, installation and everyday maintenance work around the press section.rnOne of the main innovations discussed is the felt insertion unit located on the front side, which brings advantages such as the fast felt change and elimination of cantilevering beams.rnAnother feature presented is the modular press section design with integrated automation towers, which contributes greatly to shortening of erection time of thernpress section and to better start-up curve thanks to factory testing. By moving work from the field to factory, the installation and commissioning time are minimized.rnWith these new features the machine efficiency, usability, cleanliness and safety are improved, as well as costs savings related to installation and everyday operation.
