TNPL to Invest in Packaging Board Unit

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa, announced recently in the Assembly that INR12 (USD0.22) billion packaging board manufacturing unit will be set up by the Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Paper Ltd (TNPL) in Tiruchi District. The unit will produce 200,000 tonnes per year of multi-layer double-coated board. To be set up on a 989-acre land, it is expected to generate over 2,000 jobs. Work on the unit will start in the current year in Srirangam Constituency on the Kulithalai-Manaparai State Highway in Mondipatti village. The unit will be ready in March 2016. According to official sources, the project will be funded through internal accruals and term loans. No increase in equity base is envisaged.
