Three Southeast Asian Countries Prepare for New European Timber Import Rules that Impact Wood-Based Products

Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam all supply wood-based products to the EU. In Europe, importers and customers for a whole range of products including paper are finalising their preparations to comply with the new EU Timber Regulation (EUTR).Meanwhile these three countries, and others in Southeast Asia, are doing their part. All three countries are implementing or negotiating a Voluntary Partnership Agreement with the EU. At the same time, exporters are looking to supply due diligence information to help their trade partners in Europe comply with the EU Timber Regulation.
