New biodegradable plastic from BASF

Ecovio fs, a new biodegradable plastic from BASF, has been optimised for two specific applications - for coating paper (Ecovio FS Paper) and for manufacturing shrink films (Ecovio FS Shrink Film) used to wrap packaged goods.rnThe new plastic was presented to a technical audience for the first time at last year's European Bioplastics conference. Sample material is already available. Initial production tests at customers' facilities have been successful. Introduction into the market at large is scheduled for the first quarter of this year.
