The microeconomic analysis of pollution, pollution abatement, and pollution abatement regulation

While pollution and pollution abatement behaviour have been modelled and analysed extensively since the early 1970s, this paper takes a different approach to these issues. The use of the standard methods of production-cost duality is limited to for- mulating the micro-economics of polluting and abating be- haviour, which are conditional upon the policy regime on which the analysis is being conducted.
