Assessing the application of simplified, parametric representations of impact, adaptation and mitigation costs in decision analysis models

Simple parametric representations of the costs and benefits of climate change and/or climate policy can be used effectively, but only if used carefully. They can accommodate price-in- duced technological change, but can yield erroneous views of how the world might evolve if their extrapolations beyond their sample areas are not carefully examined.
