Man Convicted of Theft & Perjury; Case Prompted by Suspect Claim

Jacob Belaski, owner of Teixeira Trucking Inc. of Ewa Beach, has been convicted on theft and perjury charges stemming from a suspect workers' compensation claim. The man allegedly misrepresented his medical condition to his comp carrier, HEMIC, and to his treating physicians, and indicated that his medical condition prevented him from performing normal work duties.rnAn investigation into Belaski's activities while on disability revealed that he was operating a commercial trucking business, which included hauling raw materials from a cement factory. Subpoenaed records showed that Belaski had earned more than $100,000 in un-reported income during the period he was collecting benefits from HEMIC. Under oath, Belaski testified that he was unable to perform his work duties and was not earning income.
