摘要

A simple broadband dispersion compensation and frequency conversion scheme is proposed, which based on a typical commercial polarization division multiplexing dual-parallel Mach-Zehnder modulator (PDM-DPMZM). It has two operating modes that you can decide if you need frequency conversion while implementing dispersion compensation. Each polarization of the PDM-DPMZM can achieve single-frequency dispersion compensation, and is easy to complement each other. It means that the power fading in one polarization can be cancelled by the other one, and vice versa. Hence, the RF signal power levels are all fully compensated within a large frequency range. No matter which operating modes, simulation results show that the power of the received signal is almost not affected by the frequency of the transmitted signal and the length of the fiber, and the SFDR is improved by about 15 dB over the dispersion link. The spectrum of the received GHz-level broadband signal has hardly changed. A 100 Mbaud RF vector signals with different frequency or input power are successfully transmitted with good constellation diagrams and low EVMs.
