Recent developments in holographic optical elements (HOEs)

The concept of wavefront reconstruction was introduced by Denis Gabor in 1948. The advent of lasers in the early 1960s oriented attention towards the recording and reconstruction of wavefronts. Around the same time, Denisyuk proposed the recording of volume reflection holograms that allowed for reconstructing the image of an object with a white light source. Numerous applications of holography have emerged since then in areas such as high-resolution imaging, multiple imaging, multicolor imaging, interferometry and optical elements.
