XO Communications selects Nokia Siemens Networks to expand optical network capacity

To meet the increasing bandwidth and low-latency requirements of businesses and carriers, XO Communications is deploying Nokia Siemens Networks' 40Gbps dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) solution. As part of a multiyear agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks will supply its hiT 7300 DWDM 40Gbps platform to provide a high-capacity, cost-efficient, and scalable transport system. The platform's high degree of modularity will enable XO Communications to respond in a timely manner to changes in traffic demand. Also, the hiT 7300 is based on a common hardware platform, which saves staff training time and OpEx, and reduces the number of spare parts that will need to be stocked.
