摘要

In the evolution to future passive optical networks (PONs), flexible migration which reuses the deployed infrastructure and colorless ONUs which eliminates wavelength dependence are two major challenges. In this paper, coexistence is applied for flexible migration and upstream remodulation is applied for colorless ONUs. Future PON downstream signals apply line-coding to reduce the induced crosstalk to the legacy downstream signal and the future PON upstream signal simultaneously. The proposed scheme is demonstrated by both simulation and experiment. Three simple line-codes are used in the demonstration and a comparison among them is made. Error-free operation is achieved and the crosstalk is much reduced. The proposed scheme is verified feasible.
