Recommended Reading on Misinformation, Content, Free Tools, and GIS

This month I look at misinformation on the web, improving your content for websites and mobile access, loads of free tools, and a primer on geographic information systems (GIS).This book is not meant to scare you away from the internet, but to help you be an informed consumer. It is a follow-on from Mintz's 2002 book, Web of Deception: Misinformation on the Internet (reviewed March 2003), with seven new chapters and authors. As the editor states, much has changed since 2002, yet much has stayed the same. New scams and misinformation sites arise every day, so it is good to be aware.
