摘要

Oh, how I yearn to implement RFID in my library. It would streamline routine tasks such as checking out (and in) materials, sorting books, and controlling inventory on the shelves. Although available for libraries for more than a decade, to me RFID systems still feel thrillingly new and modern. Yet, as novel as library RFID setups may seem, they have their roots in an early and fateful event of the 20th century.
