Academic libraries are increasingly asked to demonstrate their value to their institutions by showing data, assessment, and evidentiary analyses of student success. In addition to information literacy, other factors, such as higher student retention rates, faster graduation rates, and higher grade point averages, can measure student success. Many libraries focus on how information literacy skills can help students succeed over time.
