While this study was neither large nor rigorous enough to constitute an overall comparison of AI vs. DWIL, it did however provide evidence of the comparability of the two sources so long as NYT is included, as it is now in both. There are many libraries serving either undergraduate communities or the general public and they need general, interdisciplinary database resources for quick searches for preparing speeches, for writing papers in introductory classes and for answering general reference questions. Both AI and the Wilson databases in DWIL meet these needs. If we had been required to make a decision between AI and DWIL on the basis of these search results, I would have cho-sen AI because at that time it provided six months of NYT and DWIL, at that time, did not.
