摘要

Two historical votes in 2016 brought unexpected results. The first was the vote by the UK to exit the European Union (called Brexit) that occurred on June 23, 2016. Months later, the US Presidential election surprised many when Donald Trump was voted into office on November 8, 2016. This article, which examines the short-term reactions of energy stock investors to these events, finds that the reactions to the Brexit vote were initially significantly negative while the reactions to the US Presidential election appear to have been mixed.
