As fleet card growth slows, Citi asks WEX to handle majors' fleet cards

Faced with sluggish growth of some oil company commercial cards, credit card giant Citi has inked a multi-year outsourcing deal with fleet card processor Wright Express.rnUnder the agreement, WEX will provide marketing and customer service for the major-brand cards in exchange for transaction and other fees associated with collections, while Citi will carry the receivables.rnWEX declines to say which major-brand fleet cards it will administer for Citi, but credit card industry newsletter The Nilson Report said in September that Citi handles Shell and Sunoco proprietary fleet cards. WEX already handles proprietary fleet plastic for ExxonMobil, Gulf, Getty (LukOil), Hess, Sheetz and Fina and QuikTrip under a different arrangement, sources say.
