The jump in values was an eye-opener for many, adding a new dimension of risk to ethanol-blending. For gasoline importers, RINs are an added cost of doing business. But RINs also introduce new price uncertainty for importers, which could expose the U.S. to greater supply risk depending on how they fare in the new market, in the opinion of one blender.
