Midwest co-op supplier Cenex has joined the loyalty card parade, but it has moved outside the traditional realm of supermarkets and fast food chains for a partner. Instead, the refiner and marketer has teamed up with outdoor recreation retailer Cabela's in a deal that will offer customers greater discounts on hunting, fishing, camping and related merchandise. Cabela's has a huge reach in rural and suburban markets, thanks to retail stores in Great Plains and Rockies markets and a brisk catalog business - 135 million were mailed out last year.
