C-store marketer Sam Susser was a bright note in a dark week - his company posted record profits for the last quarter and the full year 2008, thanks in part to gasoline margins that soared to 17.7cts/gal in October, November and December. Susser's publicly held Susser Holdings opened five new stores in the quarter and closed two small locations, giving it a site count of 512. Its wholesale division added 14 new dealers and discontinued 17 dealer sites, putting the count for that segment at 372.
