In another sign that interest in E85 fuel might be leveling off, an analysis by the consulting firm HIS says flex-fuel vehicles are projected to comprise 21% of newly registered vehicles in the U.S. in 2014, and then to bounce between 21% and 24% through 2020. Since 2009, the percentage of newly registered vehicles that were flex-fuel reached a high of 20.33% in 2012, falling to 18.85% in 2013, according to data and projections by IHS analysts Thomas Libby and Jeff Jowett. Those numbers include fleets.
