USDA to award $26 mil in grants to bolster biofuel

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will spend $26 million to build the infrastructure needed to expand the availability of higher blends of biofuels in 23 states by 822 million gal/year, Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development Justin Maxson said Thursday. The agency said the money, allocated under its Higher Blends Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP), also will boost demand for U.S. agricultural products and prioritize climate-smart solutions. "Investments like these increase opportunities for American consumers to make climate-smart decisions and move the country closer to President Biden's goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050," Maxson said in a statement.
