Expect to see some growth from several publicmarketers, though in some cases that growth will bemeasured, based on recent earnings calls.Christopher Constant, CEO of Getty Realty Corp., saidthat large acquisitions have “traditionally been lumpy” andindicated that sizable deals may have slowed.Constant said the market “continues to be competitive”but there is “continued opportunity.”“Overall, I would say that the trend of large consolidationperhaps has slowed down,” he said. “We expect the industryto continue to grow and consolidate and I think (theslowdown) it’s just purely timing at this point.”Getty, which in recent years has aggressively added gasstations to its rental portfolio, did not close on propertiesin its first quarter. But Constant said the REIT was activelypursuing deals and expects to close on some of them in thesecond quarter.
