The growth of electric vehicle use has hit a milestone in the United Kingdom, with the number of public EV charging stations surpassing the number of gasoline stations for the first time, according to data from a company that maps charging station locations. Zap-Map reports that as of last week there were 13,613 charging devices at 8,471 charging locations across the U.K., which comprises England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. That compares to 8,400 gas stations in the country -- a number that continues to decline, said the company, citing data from the Experian Catalist Market Summary Report.
