Late summer saw no fewer than three installation vessels from a single company - MPI Offshore - all working together on different aspects of the Humber Gateway project in the UK. At the time of writing, all three of MPI Offshore's turbine installation vessels - MPI Resolution, MPI Adventure and MPI Discovery - were working on the same field, for the same client, but undertaking different roles and providing different services for E.ON on the Humber Gateway project in the UK. After loading in Harland & Wolff's Belfast yard, MPI Adventure sailed to the Humber Gateway offshore windfarm with two jackets and a module support frame (MSF) for the substation for the windfarm, which is due to be installed in the coming weeks by the company (including the subsea pin piles). The vessel was due to return to Hartlepool in the coming months to self-load the two topside modules that make up the substation and return to the field to lift them onto the jacket.
