Romax drive train could be scaled up to 10MW

Early 2014 saw Romax Technology selected by the US Department of Energy (DOE) as the lead mechanical engineer in a consortium that will develop an innovative wind turbine drive-train design as part of a US$3 million project run by DOE's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The project was developed with the brief of studying advanced drive-train technology that can be scaled for large turbines and ultimately reduce the cost of wind energy.
