摘要

Germany and other countries are being allowed to "surge ahead", threatening the UK's position as world leader for offshore wind power, claims James Gray, inward investment director at the East of England Energy Zone (EEEZ), which was established by the Norfolk and Suffolk Energy Alliance (NSEA) - a partnership of regional business and political leaders - to smooth the way for future investment and development of the sector, bringing together political and business support to development in the east of England through the East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) and the chambers of commerce for the two counties. The east of England, which has 63 per cent of the UK's offshore wind power with at least 1.2 gigawatts (GW) more in the pipeline, is losing out on potential factories to supply developments off its shores, Mr Gray claimed, noting that all 1,450 turbines and 4,350 blades in the UK's 4.5GW of offshore wind installations were manufactured in Danish and German factories.
