Over the past decade, the global subsea well intervention (SWI) market has received significant attention and focus from operators, service providers and investors alike. However, the first major wave of speculative investment in dedicated monohull intervention vessels that occurred towards the end of the 2000s - seeking to target a niche but emerging and promising sector previously occupied by drilling rigs - has ultimately resulted in mixed performance and pressing questions regarding the immediate outlook for the sector.
