INSTALLATION CONTRACTOR EXPECTS PLENTY OF WORK FOR PIPELAY UNIT

One of Indonesia's first bona fide offshore installation contractors, Timas Suplindo, may have been off to a slow start in early 2015, but activity has since picked up, and its first Indonesia-flagged derrick/pipelay vessel, DLB-01, looks set to continue working through the first half of 2016. The sudden plunge in oil prices during the second half of 2014 caught field operators in Indonesia - and many elsewhere - off guard, resulting in delays in sanctioning new field developments. A prolonged dry spell ensued, but possessing the only offshore construction vessel with lifting capacity suited for both platform and pipeline installation - and meeting Indonesia's cabotage requirements - eventually played out to Timas Suplindo's advantage.
