Construction ship is completed but yet to start work

November 2013, before the steep fall in the oil price and the crisis in the offshore oil and gas industry that it precipitated, saw a joint venture between Island Offshore and Edison Chouest Offshore - Island Ventures II LLC - order a pair of large, highly sophisticated and very capable offshore construction vessels of Ulstein SX165 design, one to be built at Ulstein Verft, Norway, and one to be built in the US at a yard owned by Chouest group, making it what would have been the first vessel with Ulstein's X-BOW hullform to be built in the US. The first of those vessels, Island Venture, the one built in Norway, has been completed, but the status of the US-built unit is unclear and there is speculation that it will not now be bult.
