Initial findings into the cause of the capsizing of the lift boat Seacor Power on 13 April are expected to be released by the end of May, according to the US federal agency leading the investigation. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said a full report on the causes of the incident probably won't be released until next year. Key elements of the investigation will focus on operations, training, crew performance, the vessel, equipment and systems, and weather conditions. The NTSB took over as lead investigator into the incident when the US Coast Guard halted its search operation for the vessel's missing crew members five days after the accident. Search efforts by the USCG, local agencies and good Samaritans over a 9,200 square mile area resulted in the rescue of six crew members and the recovery of six bodies; seven other crew are still missing and presumed dead.
