Even as vessel owners look forward to 2011, envisioning it to be a year of long- awaited recovery, the current oversupply of vessels in the market remains a very real issue. Anchorages are still filled with idle vessels waiting for jobs, and although work is picking up, it has not been enough to cover the excess. January was a mixed bag in terms of vessel fortunes, with some securing plum jobs with good day rates while others joined the ever-crowded anchorages, duly awaiting their next job.
