Following a major project award offshore Iraq in August, Smit Lamnalco was chosen by Petrofac in September to provide a key marine services contract to support Single Point Mooring operations 20km off the Al Fao Peninsula, for the Iraq Crude Oil Export Expansion Project (ICOEEP). The USD 70 million contract, which will commence in November 2012, is said to be the UK oilfield services player's debut offshore project in the country. But the announcement has also made waves for the UAE-based marine services player.
