Money still available for newbuilds

In May CNOOC ordered two large AHTS at a cost of more than USD 100 million each. In June an order for an even more expensive AHTS was placed.rnAt the Havyard Group in Norway, Smart Shipinvest has ordered an AHTS of Havyard 848 Smart design, which will be equipped with the SMART anchor handling concept developed by ODIM with delivery in the fourth quarter of 2011. Johan Bakke, CEO of the Havyard Group, claims that the new design of vessel will be able to do the same job as requires three vessels today. He adds: "This concept represents considerable cost savings, increased safety and savings to the environment for owner, rig operator and oil company." The build cost is believed to be as high as USD 150 million.
