Canada-Newfoundland Operational Ocean Forecasting System

The Canada-Newfoundland Operational Ocean Forecasting System (C-NOOFS) is a pilot project, regional operational ocean weather forecasting system for Canada. Its goal is to produce an ocean state forecast for Eastern Canada with the best available forcing fields (i.e. winds) and initial analysis of the ocean state from which the forecast can be run. As meteorologists analyze and predict the weather, Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is looking to analyze and forecast ocean currents, ocean temperatures, ocean salinity, as well as ocean waves.
