VENUS, or "Victoria Experimental Network Under the Sea," is a coastal observatory network operated through the University of Victoria. The fibre optic cabled stations collect data concerning physical, chemical, biological, and geological conditions in the Pacific Ocean over the long term, using a variety of sensor equipment including sonar. As each node is visited at least once per year, scientists are encouraged to apply to be a part of the next expedition.
